Blog Review - Whole Living Today

Today I’m reviewing a blog called ‘Whole Living Today‘. Written by bloganista, Tania Tyler, she describes it as: “An eclectic collection of spirituality, quotes & poems, music, lessons I’ve learned & whatever else I feel like passing on.”

Tania has some individual and insightful takes on life: she celebrates New Years on her birthday, which makes perfect sense! And she is in tune with her environment and the rhythms of life.

However, the appearance of her blog is not in tune with her.

While her thoughts and writing are very personalized and quite quirky, the appearance of her blog doesn’t capture the same individual spirit.

Currently, Tania’s blog is minimalist and clean. This is aggravating the lack of identity.

But, changes to the appearance should be made with care. The minimalist look is calming and worth retaining (and perhaps Tania takes a self-less approach to her blogging appearance).

Solutions?

1. Perhaps she could find a new image for her header that says something different or unique about her, while retaining the calm feel.

Currently the image is very neutral, depicting sea splashing on rocks. It gives one the feeling that you’ve seen this image before, it’s that generic.

2. Maybe a short ‘About Tania’ on the front page, above the fold on the right with a small image of herself might give her blog an identity? (She has a wonderful face, that immediately inspires trust and confidence - have a peak here.)

Nonetheless, Whole Living Today is a strong blog! It has a lot to teach bloganistas (not only about life, but about blogging):

1. The blog is regularly updated, roughly every 3 days or so for about a year.

2. It achieved a page rank of 3 by building up some notable link love thanks to Tania simply being her self on social networks, and writing content that any person could relate to (and link to).

3. She has included some Google advertising, but it’s not offensive or in your face. And she’s placed her Adsense carefully, to blend with the blog (this is also useful for increasing visitors’ clicks).

I’m sure Tania would appreciate any constructive criticism from you. What are your thoughts on ‘Whole Living Today’?

A great blog to review. Thanks Tania!

Ciao for now,

Lilly
