Day 7: How to blog in 7 days
February 16th, 2008.
How’s your blog doing?
You’ve spent 7 blogging days of your life creating a beautiful blog.
Now, you will want to measure your blog’s success.
There are countless free diagnostic tools out there that can help you discover your blog stats, including information like
- blog visitor’s country of origin
- the browser your blog visitor is using
- the blog pages or posts most clicked
Here are some free blog statistic tools to help you discover this info:
1. Xinu: quickest and easiest blog diagnosis tool. Simply type in your blog URL and the rest is done for you. However, the assessment is very simplified.
2. Google Analytics: this is legendary and offers you a full package for free. However, there are alternatives that are equally good, if not better.
3. eWebCounter: installed by inserting code near your template footer. This gets your real-time stats, charts and graphs, search engine keywords, visitor stats, page views, reports emailed to you, etc.
4. TwoSpots Webcounter: free registration when you include their tracking code in your pages and include a banner advertising their free tool. They provide hit counters, page visits, referrals, Google pageranks, users stats, resolutions, etc
5. Statpress: If you are using Wordpress, this is the best plugin available. It offers stats for visitors, page views, spiders, feeds, etc with easy installation.
What if your visitors graph is dropping instead of rising?
Step 1: write a blog entry every day, no matter what! If you are uninspired, take a look at Day 6: Avoid Bloggers Block.
Step 2: Register your blog with search engines: Google; Live Search; Yahoo.
Step 3: visit some blogging forums, comment on topics and include a link to your blog in everything you write.
If you follow these 3 steps, it is almost guaranteed that your blog visitor stats will pick up.
The satisfaction of seeing your blog appreciated by the masses, is truly worth the time and effort!
And that, my blogging friends, is the end of this series. Stayed tuned for the next How To series!
I wish you blog happiness.
Love, me
